Updated Net Zero Pathways for Australia

Now is a critical moment for energy policy in Australia.

The Federal Government has just published its National Climate Risk Assessment and National Adaptation Plan and has released its 2035 Targets and Plans for achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

This seminar will explore these developments, and more, using the very latest analysis from the Net Zero Australia Project.

Join us to discuss our latest report, Updated Net Zero Pathways for Australia, including:

  • assessment of the roles of renewables, energy storage, natural gas firming, carbon capture and storage and other, complementary technologies;
  • the implications of technology build rates and other constraints on when we might achieve net zero;
  • where we may need new electricity and gas transmission; and
  • the estimated costs of net zero emissions, overall and disaggregated by residential, commercial and industrial energy users.

The seminar will conclude with a panel discussion and Q&A with the audience, featuring:

  • Michael Brear and Simon Smart from the Net Zero Australia Project;
  • Meg McDonald, Net Zero Australia Advisory Group member; and
  • Ben Potter, Energy Journalist and moderator.
